ROCKAWAY, N.J. – The editors of R&D Magazine have announced the winners of the 49th Annual R&D 100 Awards, which salute the 100 most technologically significant products introduced into the marketplace over the past year. Click here for a full list of this year's winners.

5 D* v; @$ ?5 g2 h5 M8 V' m' @( zA strong field of entries this year gave our judges a challenge, but they ultimately emerged with a list of the top 100 high-technology products for 2011. The innovations are as wide-ranging as ever: electronic paper, renewable methane, a 3D camera, ceramic capacitors, and a composite bridge all made the grade.

The R&D 100 Awards have long been a benchmark of excellence for industry sectors as diverse as telecommunications, high-energy physics, software, manufacturing, and biotechnology. For industry leaders, government labs, and academic institutions, the awards can be vital for gauging their efforts at commercialization of emerging technologies. And in winning an R&D 100 Award, developers often find the push their product needs to find success in the marketplace.

“During the recent economic downturn, industry, academia, and government labs continued to innovate. The editors were impressed with the strong field of candidates for this year’s R&D 100 Awards. The number of entries exceeded that of recent years,” said Rita Peters, editorial director of R&D Magazine.

% x- m% J" \% O3 D8 r# c1 xSince 1963, the R&D 100 Awards have identified revolutionary technologies newly introduced to the market. Many of these have become household names, helping shape everyday life for many Americans. These include the flashcube (1965), the automated teller machine (1973), the halogen lamp (1974), the fax machine (1975), the liquid crystal display (1980), the Kodak Photo CD (1991), the Nicoderm anti-smoking patch (1992), Taxol anticancer drug (1993), lab on a chip (1996), and HDTV (1998).

Winners of the R&D 100 Awards are selected by an independent judging panel and the editors of R&D Magazine.   具有優於市售圓柱體狀超級電容之功能,且輕量、薄型與可摺疊性,可與電池整合開發,初期鎖定小功率能源供電系統為主,包含數位相機、小型風力發電機、手工具機、電動腳踏車、太陽能袋包箱等,未來相關產品的體積重量都能大大減輕,並賦予更優異的供電功能。

[9 w9 M由 於偏光板是LCD的重要關鍵零組件,現有偏光板其結構是在具有偏光功能的「聚乙烯醇膜」(PVA膜)兩邊黏貼具良好透光吸水的「三醋酸纖維素膜」(TAC 膜),因全球目前使用的偏光板TAC保護膜其製程中所使用的二氯甲烷溶劑,必須使用昂貴的處理設備以確保在製程中不洩漏與殘存,佔製造成本極高比例,因此 工研院運用「環氧樹脂二氧化矽奈米混成材料」技術,成功研發出可替代傳統TAC膜的高透光性「新型偏光板保護膜」(HyTAC)材料,不需要使用二氯甲烷 溶劑,可以減少2/3的廢氣回收設備成本,符合環保趨勢,同時具備優異的3D光學折射率等向性,適合新一代「平面轉換模式液晶面板」(IPS MODE)使用,具有極大市場應用潛力,此技術目前已技轉給國內相關廠商進行量產製程開發,其環保低成本製程及光學特性優勢,將為LCD顯示材料科技帶來 新一波市場發展契機。

In-Snergy關鍵技術跨產業合作 衍生應用服務嘉惠社會大眾

      由經濟部技術處指導,資策會網路多媒體研究所執行「先進感知系統與綠能應用技術計畫」所研發之In-Snergy雲端智慧綠能管理系統,其關鍵技術包括:迴路辨識與高可靠後端管理平台等;目前此套系統已先後應用於統一超商、友達光電台中廠、那魯灣飯店及遠雄三峽銀髮族住宅等。除此之外,資策會更將此技術實地應用於該企業的辦公室及坐落於民生社區的民生科服大樓,作為實證研究,節電費比率高達27%。+ H/ x$ X3 p; `9 v

此次獲獎的In-Snergy,對一般消費者在日常生活中的節能省電,有很大的助益。我們可從幾家與資策會合作的業者,針對一般民眾的需求,所發展出的應用服務來了解。例如:導入資策會In-Snergy的業者新光保全曾表示,資策會此項節能應用平台,目前已進入試運轉階段,客戶端採用勝德國際研發的能源感知插座,及家用能源管理閘道器;後台使用資策會所開發的In-Snergy為架構;結合新光保全天天樂活網內「節能網」,提供客戶在電子保全服務的防盜感知器防護選項外,另一種新的電力監控服務。

另外,新光保全也和合作伙伴導入資策會的後端節能管理平台,來開拓市場商機。如結合電力管理系統及軟體後端管理平台的特點,共同推出具有節能管理概念的「電力節能保全」,未來保全服務中可增加「節能管理」項目。除以家庭用戶為主要族群外,另同步展開企業、廠辦、連鎖店、大賣場等用電量高的對象使用。

由於In-Snergy發揮在節能效益上相當大,因此,資策會表示,網路多媒體研究所開發的In-Snergy只是個開始,未來的研發方向將整合更多的應用,包括AMI智慧電表,以及應用在太陽能、再生能源、需量反應、及LED路燈照明等領域中。整體目標希望提供民眾能以「記錄用電」、「行為辨識」、「調控與提示」三步驟,真正達到「聰明用電」、「有感智慧」的境界。  @3 d) Q* Y5 {) b: k+ o

「想起十多年前一場電線走火意外,大火頓時吞噬高雄老家一、二樓透天厝的那一幕…」,資策會網路多媒體研究所主要負責研發 In-Snergy的莊棨(ㄑㄧˇ)(ㄔㄥˊ)組長內心還是相當激動,但卻也正因此埋下了他潛心研發「用電安全」領域前瞻技術的種子。根據內政部消防署統計,火災的成因有36%是來自電器發生短路或走火導致,係多數火災發生的最主要因素之一。此「雲端智慧綠能管理系統」係透過監控家中電器設備與雲端平台的整合,提供消費者隨時隨地透過智慧裝置掌握、查閱最即時的電力使用狀況、甚或提醒您關閉電源;換句話說,In-Snergy就像是中醫把脈一樣,24小時全年無休地幫您診斷、健檢電力使用狀況,並適時提出警訊,至於搭配裝置之一的電力計(iSocket)則就像是把脈器,藉由iSocket 量測電流的脈博,分析與辨識電力的使用與健康狀態。6 @9 E, L8 X8 M' Q8 g4 p
