Attendees of COMPUTEX Taipei 2010 will have the opportunity to experience DisplayPort®, a digital display interface standard put forth by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA®). DisplayPort provides a common interface across internal and external display connections that significantly improves performance of audio and video over one cable and allows for sleeker form factors in notebooks and LCD displays. It offers the unique ability to connect to previous display connections such as DVI, VGA and HDMI with the use of simple adaptors. DisplayPort is the ultimate digital display connection. The VESA booth will demonstrate the following DisplayPort enabled products:

ATI Eyefinity Technology:  You’ve heard of surround sound…Eyefinity captures the idea of “surround sight.” With the introduction of new GPUs from AMD – which are compliant with next-generation DirectX® 11 –  ATI Eyefinity Technology with DisplayPort connectivity enables users to operate up to six high-resolution displays simultaneously and independently. Eyefinity can drive each output to 2560 x 1600 resolution.  In a multi-monitor setup, desktop size up to 7680 x 4800 is possible. VESA will be showing Eyefinity with DisplayPort creating an enhanced visual workspace offering an expanded view for use in gaming, entertainment and even business.

* ~, f, G* W. I2 J0 @DisplayPort Audio:  DisplayPort enables multi-channel audio and video over a single cable. VESA will demonstrate the Lenovo ThinkPad T510 notebook and NEC MultiSync EA231WMi monitor showing single-cable connectivity for sound and video.

3 d: y3 z7 O. Z! v9 YMonitor Hub:  DisplayPort enables simple, cost-effective multi-monitor connectivity between a single DisplayPort source and up to three DisplayPort or DVI-compatible monitors with the Accell UltraAV Multi-Monitor Adapter.

O0 w& ~- PIts plug-and-play features allow multiple-monitor viewing from a single digital output port for each application, such as gaming, graphics design or spreadsheet analysis, without an additional graphics card. You can also choose to dedicate each monitor to a separate application. VESA will demonstrate the Accell UltraAV Multi-Monitor Adapter connected to a MacBook Pro that will extend the desktop to three external monitors with total resolution of 3840 x 1024 pixels.  The Accell UltraAV Multi-Monitor Adapter is powered by the DisplayPort connector.

Dual-mode:  DisplayPort-enables computers to operate in Dual-mode. Dual-mode offers interoperability with HDMI or DVI using the DisplayPort connector.  A simple adapter adjusts the signals to work with a DVI monitor or HDMI television.  VESA will demonstrate the HP 2540 notebook playing Blu-ray content through a DisplayPort-to-HDMI cable with the adapter built-in and powered by the DisplayPort connector.
