Advances in VLSI technology and the increasing availability of digital transmission
channels, digital video communication services are expanding and economic realization
9 {" d- I: J/ Sare possible. In order to reduce the transmission bit rate several source coding methods are used.
With application of VLSI technology such sophisticated source codecs can be realized
8 D/ X2 j! Y+ O% `economically. A novel DCT/IDCT ASIC chip for video codec in real time has been designed
/ }. R9 E" U3 t, A/ o! n' pand tested using Ipm CMOS standard cell technology. This chip meets the stringent
requirement of a low bit rate codec standards proposed by CCITT.

2D DCT 應該都是分成 Horizontal 1D DCT 和 Vertical 1D DCT.
